Choose the perfect national park for your family vacation

There are many decisions to decide on a vacation destination. When it involves more than you and your friends or anything else important, it seems more complicated. Even small and family vacations should not drive you to drink or pull your hair. Here are some tips to help relieve the stress of your choice.

The easiest thing to ask first is what do you and the people who go with you like? Are you a completely outdoor people, strictly indoor type, or a combination? Are you all athletic or in good condition? Do you like hot weather, mild or cold seasons? Is tourism what you want on the agenda, or is it an activity-oriented type? Do you enjoy’roughing’ or do you want a more comfortable place? Do you like to learn camping, fishing, backpacking, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, bird watching, wildlife watching, history, formation of unique structures in the park, snorkeling, swimming, scuba diving, sailing and boating? Kayaking, whitewater rafting, photoshooting, hunting or lazing around beautiful places?

The next thing to consider is how much time and how long you have to spend. There are so many national parks and monuments that are relatively close to people, so there is no cost to get there. Some of Alaska’s exciting wilderness areas are expensive, but if you have money and enjoy the great outdoors, it’s worth an amazing and unforgettable experience.

That is, it remains only to choose a destination. Keep in mind that there are cheap travel options in almost every area and you are moving to more expensive areas. Also, going to a national park doesn’t mean you have to be rough. There are many options such as day hikes, mountaineering, fishing and water sports. It is not to sit outside by campfire and enjoy outdoors.

Camping is generally considered the cheapest type of vacation after first investing in camping gear. This can be a neat sum, but remember that equipment usually lasts for several years. In general, it is true that camping costs in parks are lower than average hotel rooms. If you own an RV, you will enjoy true comfort. Most campgrounds are located in gorgeous surroundings and have easy access to the park’s highlights. Few parks without campgrounds. Also, when camping, you usually save money by cooking your own food. And no, you don’t have to eat hot dogs all week long unless you love them!

Now, if you live in the Midwest, there are many park options within 12 hours depending on where you live. Of course, you can choose to fly anytime, anywhere, but some parks are a bit far from the nearest airport. Driving gives you the luxury of carrying everything you need for a comfortable stay.

My favorite in the Midwest is Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This is one of the best all-round parks for families. Tennessee and North Carolina. Rough on the Appalachian Trail, camp in a developed campsite or wilderness, or stay anywhere from luxurious suites to affordable hotels in nearby Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg (TN) . And when it comes to pigeon forge, you have Dolly Wood and the myriad of attractions they offer in the area. On the North Carolina side, there are more Cherokee City campgrounds with several Indian souvenirs and museums, white water rafting and fly phishing (the last two are actually available in two states). The mountains are absolutely beautiful and make for great photo ops. For more information, see the Great Smoky Mountain web page.

Another great option is the Indiana National Lakes National Lakeshore and State Parks. There are also camping and wildlife watching, especially bird watching. With its unique coastline, you can walk on the beach or swim on Lake Michigan. They even have an area where you can go horseback riding with your own horse. For those who enjoy tourism and history, you can watch 5 World Fair homes in 1933 or attend Gathering At Calumic in early May, where Eastern Woodland Indians and Western Lake fur traders and sailors relive Calumet’s life in early May. River from 1730-1830.

If you enjoy boating, there are several places in the Midwest, but the two northern ones are Voyageurs National Park and Isle Royale National Park. Voyageurs is located in Minnesota, and Isle Royale is off Lake Superior’s northern Michigan coast. Both offer great wild adventures and canoeing, kayaking, motorboating and fishing opportunities. Voyageurs is considered a water park, so you have to take the boat to a real park, but it’s a short trip. There is a campsite or lodge, so you can find a nice fishing spot by boating around the waterways. Isle Royale is a boat ride or a short “puddle jumper” flight. Only wild camping is available, and there are lodges for those who enjoy day hiking and comfort. There are kayaking, fishing, backpacking, wildlife, and the longest research program to study wolves and deer, scuba diving and ship thinking. It is truly a unique ecosystem that can be observed.

The western United States offers much more in national parks. The most famous is Yellowstone, where you can feel the wonders of Old Faithful and many other geothermals. Also, be careful as bison roaming gets very close. Located on the border of Wyoming and Montana. There are many ranches and lodges to stay, or you can camp in the park. There are also great fly fishing, kayaking, hiking and backpacking. Another big problem is Grand Canyon National Park. It is located in Arizona and again on the border between Arizona and Nevada, but also close to the southern Utah border. South of Bryce Canyon National Park is part of the Grand Staircase, a massive sedimentary rock layer that ends in the Grand Canyon past Zion National Park in Utah. There are camping, backpacking, day hikes, white water rafting and a variety of photo opportunities.

To the west are Yosemite, Channel Islands, Redwood, Arch, Olympic, Grand Teton, Canyon Land, Rocky Mountain, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Mesa Verde, Crater Lake. , Mountain. Rainier and Sequoia. All of them have a wide range of activities to suit the needs and desires of the holiday traveler. Check out the individual park pages for more information on this wonderful park.

The eastern United States also offers great options for vacation. Arcadia National Park in Maine boasts excellent northern coastal views and cliff climbs that you won’t see in any other park. There are fishing, island exploration, hiking and beautiful gardens. Further down the east is Shenandoah National Park in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The Appalachian Trail crosses the park for 101 miles and offers hiking and backpacking options. There are also camping, fishing, bird watching and horseback riding.

Florida has three national parks with one of the most famous Everglades and one conservation area. Everglades is much more than what you’ve seen on TV. Wildlife is easy to get pictures of wonderful and wonderful animals and birds. Canoeing, fishing, air boating, hiking and rare, as well as camping the beautiful flora (beware of crocodiles!). The Big Cypress National Preserve is the right of Everglades and is very similar, but also offers endangered wildlife species such as cypress stands, mangrove forests, peregrine falcons and Florida pandas. Activities include fishing, biking, canoeing, hiking and hunting. Biscayne National Park is at the eastern end of southern Florida. With the world’s third longest coral reef area, there are opportunities for snorkeling, scuba diving trips, sailing, swimming, fishing, canoeing and kayaking, making it a famous national park vacation for spring break crowds looking for family vacations or outdoor adventures. Dry Tortugas National Park is a unique park that was built during the Civil War and preserves the never-ending Jeffson Fort and Tern of Tern and Sea Turtle. You can enjoy Key West snorkeling, saltwater fishing, swimming, lighthouses, shipbuilding, hiking, beach camping, boating, scuba diving, bird watching and underwater photography in the best coral reefs and marine life areas in the south Florida.

Once again, I would like to emphasize that this is only an overview of some of the impressive parks you can see in the National Park System. I remember you dig our site, and please read some of the park pages for the area you wish to visit to find the perfect place for you to enjoy a wonderful vacation And amazing pictures.
